Avastor Introduces 500GB FireWire Drive

Avastor Expands Its Product Line With The Largest Single Drive Available

Peachtree City, GA --August 10, 2005 -- Avastor Inc begins shipments of its new HDX 500 gigabyte portable FireWire hard disk drives.  With the addition of the HDX 500 GB capacity drives.  Avastor now offers more external hard drive configurations than any other external drive manufacturer.  The new drive not only allows for a half terabyte of storage but gives you the 500 gigabytes in a single drive; this does away with the connection problems associated with psuedo 500 GB drives that combine two 250 GB drives using a RAID configuration.

Richard Wilson, Avastor’s Senior VP, Sales and Marketing, comments, “I knew the demand for 500 GB of capacity in our HDX-400 and HDX-800 enclosures would be strong, but the initial demand is still surprising.  It’s hard to believe we get orders for ten 500 gig drives - that’s 5 terabytes (40 trillion bits) of storage.  I asked the customer what they were going to do with all that storage.  Without hesitating they said, ‘We’ll use it.  These days everybody wants to save everything’.” Wilson adds, “This week marks six months since we shipped our first drive.  In that time we have literally shipped 1000’s of drives worldwide.  The outstanding reliability and performance of the entire HDX and PDX product line has been a real hit with our customers.  It’s really exciting.”

“We were very pleased to be one of the first to offer 500 GB single drives,” said Steve Smith, President of Avastor. “We know the demand for larger storage capacities just keeps growing and we are meeting that need.  We now offer over 20 different drive enclosure configurations that include combinations of USB 2.0, FireWire 400 and 800, plus SATA.  As one of the newest companies to offer portable hard disk drives to the professional audio and video industry, we are working to not only exceed the demands of our customers, but also lead the way in all aspects of digital storage products.
