This upgraded drive will now include a USB 3.0 connection as well as a 3TB drive and Oxford 944 chip set.

The HDX-1500 upgraded drive is sleek and compact, with the smallest form factor available, and has an ultra-quiet on board cooling system. The new Oxford 944 chip set is a bridge chip set that converts eSATA data into FireWire 800 as well as FireWire 400, and has a direct connection to the eSATA line. Previous models of the Oxford chip sets only supported drives up to 2TB. The new Oxford 944 chip set offers support to not only 3TB drives but also the USB 3.0. This new USB connection will now provide backwards compatibility with USB 2.0 and have a maximum transfer speed of 4.8Gbps, while keeping uploads and downloads on separate lanes. This connection will also charge devices faster, resulting in less energy waste.
